GIROGIROTONDO Kidergarten welcoms children from 2 and a half to 5 years at Istituto Pio IX, still keeping its laicist nature.
Kidergarten aim
Making a suitable relationship between child and other infants, families, school and adults is determined thrpugh the definition of a suitable context for a better personality development. Kindergarten aims at widening and completing family action (still crucial), acting as a bridge with the external world.
We believe that our educational path should develop mainly through four areas of experience,
not necessarily isolated from each other:
The first (corporeality) recognizes, develops and guides motor skills for the mastery of one’s body and as a moment of communicatio with others.
The second (communication) aims at developing expressive, linguistic and cognitive skills through the use of both verbal and non - verbal languages, and the communicative function of situations, spaces, objects for a complete exchange of individual and group messages.
The third (logic) arricchisceenriches
the develoment of knowledge with particular regard to discoveries, classifications, serial comparisons, languages and symbols. In this context, mathematical experience is urged:
it will take on even greater importance in the formation of the infantile personality with the application of schemes, numbers and figures. The goal is to encourage the development of thought and reasoning.
Finally, environment aims at achieving sensory, percpetive, exploratory knowledge through manual activities, and an elementary scientific approach, of a physical and biological type. Alongside the direct use of senses for the knowledge of the surrounding environment, we believe it is important to add the contribution of different physical and cultural environments. This will be possible by overcoming an ethnocentriv vision, thanks to the contribution of other cultural contexts and acting through activities of multicultural and multi - ethnic inspiration, with the aim of inserting the child in a world which is increasingly characterized by the interaction of valuesm behaviors, different models.

Our Teachers
In the three sections our kindergarten is made up of, there are three teachers, one of which is English native speaker. All teachers have got a degree in Educational Studies, Psychology or Learning Sciences. Together, they think about, discuss and carry out the educational project.
Moreover, teachers specialized in pictorial and graphic, music and motor workshop.
Space Organization
Four big, interconnected rooms, a huge garden, a gym,
a bathroom suitable for the three sections, a theatre and some other spaces are available in the structure.
All spaces are structured thinking about children’s needs and skills.
The teaching of English language, entrusted to one of the three teachers of each class, and ranging from 36 to 40 hours every week, aims at teaching the language through moments of play, music, creativity and daily actions, from welcoming, to snack - time, to the various laboratories
THE CANTEEN
Kitchen and canteen service are entrusted to professional cooks, who will make meals complying with applicable laws with regard to hygiene HCCP.
The canteen offers both summer and winter menu and the snacks are developed by a dietitian, organic and locally grown. Plus, there are menus dedicated to celiacs, intolerants, allergics and people belonging to different cultures.

The goal of our preschool project is to help develop the child's personality by orienting their relationships with the outside world,
Thanks to the effort of interpretation resulting from this interaction, the
child adapts their behavior and advances in self-knowledge.
At the same time, the infantile personality will be able to overcome the confusion between subjective and objective experiences (due to the pre-eminence of the ego typical of this age) and to give a character of collaboration and reciprocity to the relationship with external reality, initially mainly dependent on adults. .
The egocentric characteristic of childhood does not allow the child to distinguish their own inner world from the real dynamics, so the knowledge of others, the exploration of the external environment, the realization of experiences, the logical-communicative development, the very discovery of themselves require a training course whose actions help the child to share the self and things with others.
